Essential Software
On these pages, you will find useful programs, tools or utilities which for one reason or another we believe all or most users should have.
Shareware
The Shareware page has packages listed that require some kind of payment, donation or registration to use. All of them will require shelling out at least a small amount to continue using (without annoying expiry messages or loss of functionality). That is not to say that they are not worthy of a look; like all of the free software avilable on our site, they have been extensively used and tested by us, and despite the cost, we still believe them to be incredibly useful or powerful, and therefore possibly worth the cost.
Freeware
The Freeware page has a list of software for download that is, essentially, free - i.e. there is no requirement to pay anyone anything to use it. In many cases, such as the free Antivirus packages, a better or more feature-rich version of the software is avilable from the author(s) that does require some kind of payment or registration. However, the free versions are exactly that - no charges, no annoying registration requirements, popups, or spyware (at least, to our knowledge). Best of all, they have been tested and used by us - and deemed to be worthy of recommending!
